SZOS Development

The System Zero Operating System is a Browser Based Framework also known as the SZOS. Do note that OS is only used to describe the project to the people involved and is NOT a real Operating System used for installing on to a computer to run it.

This SZOS is based completely on HTML, JavaScript and CSS3 and is totally void of Flash and other browser based multi-media applications.

This project has been in on-going development since the late 1990's with a few people involved, and has been used on many web sites, but never actually released publicly on the internet.

The project received many upgrades including recently to CSS3. It also suffered many setbacks due largely in part of browser compatibility. The SZOS runs smooth on most modern browsers, minus some IE9 and Opera 11 issues mostly relating to CSS transition-duration. At this point we've got full compatibility with Safari, Chrome and FireFox, the three main browsers we're developing for.

There is no date on when this project will be released to the public IF it will ever get released. However, our current intentions are on making a release. At the moment we're designing a way to allow any web developer with some skill to be able to create applications with the SZOS, as well as us completing the XCMS, the built-in application for Website Management.

For now, here is a look at the current version of the SZOS with the XCMS:
